Installation and Settings
How do I set up your service with a Linksys/Sipura PAP2 or SPA device?
These instructions are for a PAP2 device, but should work for other devices too if you know how to configure them:
1. First, login to your device as an administrator. (if you do not know how to login to your PAP2 please scroll to the bottom of this FAQ entry)
2. Now, set up your account details in Line 1 or Line 2:
Proxy: outgoing.future-nine.com (if outgoing only) or incoming.future-nine.com (if both ways)
Use Outbound Proxy: No
Register: yes
Register Expires: 300
Use DNS SRV: No
Proxy Fallback Intvl: 300
User ID: <YOUR FUTURE NINE 8 DIGIT ACCOUNT NUMBER> (not 6-digit!)
Password: <YOUR 10-CHARACTER PASSWORD>
(You should have received both of those with your ACCOUNT DETAILS email - if you don't know what these are use the SIP INFO link inside the web console - do not use your 6-digit login username anywhere in the configuration!)
Preferred Codec: G711u (if in the US) or G729 (if in another country)
3. If you are behind a NAT firewall or a broadband router, and receive incoming calls:
In ADVANCED VIEW, change:
NAT Mapping Enable: yes
NAT Keep Alive Enable: yes
NAT Keep Alive Msg: $NOTIFY
NAT Keep Alive Dest: $PROXY
T1 Timer: 1
Reg Retry Long Intvl: 120
5. At this point, you should already be able to register and make
calls. The following is advanced configuration that will give you
better voice quality, at the expense of using more bandwidth. Change
this only if you have at least 100kbps free bandwidth available both up
and downstream:
In ADVANCED VIEW, go to the SIP Tab, and change the following parameter:
RTP Packet Size: 0.020
This will give you better voice quality, at the expense of using about
30kbps more bandwidth than the default PAP2 parameter (0.030). Our
service's "native" packet size is 0.020, so reducing this below 0.020
will not get you better quality and will just waste bandwidth - so
don't try this. ;)
5. In the System tab, please change:
Primary DNS: 208.67.220.220
Secondary DNS: 208.80.124.2
OPTIONAL:
If you have Caller ID issues (does not display time correctly) please set the following:
In the System tab:
Primary NTP Server: time.nist.gov
Secondary NTP Server: time-a.nist.gov
(Note there are many, many NTP servers on the internet. You can use other ones too.)
In the Regional tab:
Time Zone: your correct time zone
If you do not know how to login to your device, please follow these instructions:
1. Pick up the phone connected to the PAP2.
2. Dial ****
3. At the voice menu prompt, dial 110#
4. The device will read out it's IP address. Something like 192.168.0.100,
write this down.
5. Go to a web browser, and enter the following URL:
http://192.168.0.100/admin/advanced
(make sure to replace 192.168.0.100 with the actual IP address you
wrote down in step 4)
6. You should now be logged into your PAP2 in admin advanced mode.
7. Go back to the top of this page and follow the instructions from there.
